Parent Teachers Association - PTA Information
What is the Micklem PTA and what does it do?
It is the school's Parent-Teachers' Association. The Micklem School Association organises events and raises funds for the school, to be spent on things that the school budget cannot pay for. In the last year the PTA has paid for many things for the school including
- Educational resources for each class
- Subsidising pupil's school visits
- New play equipment for the playground
- Whole school visit to the Pantomime
Recent events have included:
- Summer Fair / Barbecue
- Video Club
- Regular Discos
- School uniform shop
- We also fund raise through the Giving Machine Website. Please join at www.thegivingmachine.co.uk and help us raise funds
From the summer term we will be running a DVD library so that children can borrow a DVD on a Friday evening and bring back on Monday morning for the cost of £1.00.
We are currently raising funds to take the whole school on a trip to Whipsnade Zoo.
All parents of children at Micklem Primary School are automatically members. How much you become involved is up to you: from supporting events, helping organise and run events to becoming a member of the committee. Parents may attend any Committee meeting if they wish.
These are elected at the AGM. Committee members plan and organise events and also decide on how money raised is to be spent. Committee meetings are held once per half term and before a big event. Committee members can attend as many meetings as they are able. In the future some meetings may be held in the daytime, to allow members who cannot get childcare to attend.
If you are interested in helping the PTA in anyway then contact the school office.
