Year 5 got into role as Katherine Ferrers, the highwaywoman of Markyate, and thought about what might have caused her to become a highwaywoman and how she might have felt. To give it a modern twist we presented her thought as tweets and video blogs!

Doggy Duty Day- Our charity day, raising money for Dogs Trust. We were sponsored to tie ourselves to our dogs and take them everywhere with us all day!

The Highwayman- performing poetry ( and a bit of dressing up fun!)

World Book Day- we dressed up as characters from books then acted in role. We introduced ourselves and then had to react as our character would to events that happened, such as wolves, fires, hard calculations and bath time!

World Book Day- we used the persuasive techniques we have been learning to promote and sell a book in the style of a television shopping channel. ( The videos are possibly upside down but so brilliant they are still worth sharing!)

Door Week- We designed and made our own miniature wooden doors.

At the start of Door Week Year 5 decided to report the news about the mystery door which has appeared in our hall. They spent the day putting together whole news programmes with intro music, logos, anchors, 'on the scene' reporters, interviews, weather reports and even an investigation into cottage pie!

Unfortunately a monster from the land behind the door must have got in and chewed the computers, which has broken them and stopped us uploading our finished films. However a few bits were miraculously saved, so see below for two little clips to give you a taste of what we did....

Our Rainforest- plants and animals from each of the four layers

Click on the link below to see when we worked collaboratively with Year 3 and became mini apprentices.

Learning about the Solar System. Year 5 scaled down the Solar System to make a model in the playground. They had to measure out the correct distances between the planets. Then the planets had to rotate and orbit the sun, but without getting too dizzy!

Puzzle Day! We needed to use all our learning powers to tackle the challenges, sometimes we succeeded and sometimes it was just too tricky......

Knight Fights! Year 5 got into role as brave and chivalrous Knights of the Slightly Square Table. They learned some knightly language to prepare for writing recounts of their duels.
