Tournament report from Miss Fahy
This week Micklem's year 4 girls were invited to their first FA girls football tournament to compete against other local schools. Although feeling very nervous, we had a stunning start to our first game and won 1-0 against Bishop Wood with a terrific goal from Faith. We moved on to play St Mary's who had some great players and were a tough team but with great perseverance we managed to win 3-2 with some important goals from Deliah and Olivia. As the games went on we saw some brilliant saves from our goal keepers Faith and Elaina and strong defending from both Asya and Anya. With endless amounts of effort some tired legs started to creep in and we lost our first game. After we had our lunch the girls got to meet a player from Tottenham Hotspurs Ladies Academy, who inspired them with her story of playing football and set them some fun football challenges. This was perfect timing and helped the girls to give some motivational team speeches to each other. They got straight back into their winning ways beating South Hill 3-2. The girls showed determination throughout the whole game and we saw some more fantastic goals from Elisa and a wonderful assist by Emily who played with such passion the whole day. At the end of the day all the teams gathered together for the results and presentation. Micklem's year 4 girls walked away with Gold medals and very big smiles after coming in first place. What a fantastic day out. Mr Swift’s football training is really paying off. Well done girls!
