At Micklem, our ethos is founded on the belief that every child has huge potential. We believe in 'learning without limits' and that no child should have a ceiling put on their learning. Children are taught to choose a challenge which best suits their ability whilst still challenging themselves to gain new knowledge and skills. This forms the core of our learning.
We believe in growth mindset and through assemblies, PSHE and the language used by everyone in the school, the children are taught that everybody has the potential to learn and that it is the amount of effort that is the key. We say that if something is difficult that we haven't learned it YET. We use our learning powers to help us understand ourselves as learners and we reward excellence in the use of perseverance, reflectiveness, resourcefulness and cooperation in our weekly assemblies.
