Our Learning

At Micklem, we believe in 'learning without limits' and that no child should have a ceiling put on their learning.  

We have an underpinning approach based on Carol Dwecks research on growth mindset.  Through assemblies, PSHE and the language used by everyone in the school, the children are taught that everybody has the potential to learn and that it is the amount of effort that is the key.  We say that if something is difficult that we haven't learned it YET.  We use our learning powers to help us understand ourselves as learners and we reward excellence in the use of perseverance, reflectiveness, resourcefulness, resilience and cooperation in our weekly assemblies.
