Welcome to our School!
I am delighted that you have chosen to visit our website. I hope some of what you see gives you a flavour of Micklem Primary School. We are a one form entry school set in beautiful grounds which include a spacious well-equipped playground, an extensive playing field, raised beds for the children‘s gardening projects and a wild life area. The school comprises of large classrooms with projectors and interactive whiteboards plus a range of computers and laptops for the children’s use. We have recently expanded our Early Years department and the Reception and Nursery children now learn in separate rooms but have lots of opportunities to learn through play together in the large outdoor space we have developed.
At Micklem we place great emphasis on the enjoyment of learning. As a school we use a theme approach to make the children’s learning exciting and meaningful to them. Whilst ensuring the children are rigorously taught all the necessary skills for Reading, Writing, Maths, IT and Science we use the theme approach to ensure that Geography, History, Art and Design Technology are taught in an exciting way with the opportunity to further develop Maths, Science, IT and Literacy skills in context.
As well as ensuring the children are motivated learners we also value and nurture each child and recognise that every child is an individual. Behaviour at Micklem is good and we have an ethos that focuses on rewarding positive behaviour in class and around the school. Older children regularly work and play alongside younger pupils and are encouraged to be good role models. As a result our pupils gain in confidence and independence.
Micklem has a real community feel to it. Parents are welcomed into school on a weekly basis to share in the children’s achievements through Sharing and Celebration Assemblies. We have a thriving PTA which holds many family events. Parents are also regularly invited to come and learn through the Family Learning sessions that we run.
I would be really happy to show you around the school and answer any questions you may have. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit and I look forward to meeting you.
