Awards and Quality Marks

As a school, we are proud to have been recognised for the specialist work that we have conducted in some areas to enhance the offer provided to our children.  Below are some of the Quality Marks and Awards that we have.

The Inclusion Quality Mark recognises the work that we have done to support all of our children and to recognise them as individual learners.  As a school, this is an integral part of our work and a key belief we hold; that every child matters and can achieve.  We are currently recognised for the high standard for the work we do by being a Centre of Excellence, something that we are very proud of.

We are very pleased to announce that on 19th May 2022, Micklem School was granted the IQM Flagship School Award. Here is a statement from the IQM Assessor:

"The Headteacher and current Inclusion Lead, Deputy Headteacher and SENDCO, ultimately taking on a role of Inclusion Leader, and a wider team have worked together to ensure that the inclusive ethos prevails and that the pupils remain at its centre. They have high aspirations combined with a clear understanding of the whole school community and challenges that the school faces. Leadership gives unwavering support towards inclusive practice because they believe that through inclusion all children have equal access to increased life chances".

The ArtsMark recognises the work that we do to promote the arts across our curriculum.  As a school, we not only teach art, music, drama and dance lessons separately, but as an integral part of our wider curriculum, ensuring that all can thrive and achieve. Image result for silver artsmark

The Equalities Award is another measure of the work we do to ensure that all children are supported and recognised as individuals.  This considers the work we do with pupils who have Special Educational Needs as well as those who have vulnerabilities in different areas of the curriculum.                        Image result for equalities award

The School Games award is one that recognises our dedication to promote healthy living and sport across the curriculum.  It takes into account the quality of our curriculum, breadth of sport we offer and the opportunities we provide our pupils to participate in sports with other schools.  It also looks at how we prepare our children to be leaders in sport.

Modeshift STARS is the Centre of Excellence for the delivery of Effective Travel Plans in Education, Business and Community settings. The scheme recognises schools, businesses and other organisations that have shown excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable and active travel.
