Learning, achieving, working together

Wednesday

Today in English, we're going to be describing the Phoenix (the incredible creature from the EVOL video).  The best bit of the video to look at for this would be from 1:00 to 1:45.  Take a piece of paper (or the worksheet below) and give it headings of Appearance (nouns and adjectives), Action (verbs), and how it moves (adverbs).  See how many words you can put under the different columns.

Then use these words to write a paragraph to describe the creature.  You could concentrate on starting some key sentences with a fronted adverbial (it describes how, when or where something happens and should be followed by a comma):

Covered in fire, the huge creature flew into the sky.

Vocabulary gathering sheet and extra vocabulary ideas.

Great game - use dice, digit cards or pieces of paper with the digits 0 to 9 on to make your own calculations. If you want easier calculations, you could do 3 digits x 1 digit.

ABC challenge - a good problem to solve!

I've made lessons on this skill before.
