Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

We are learning to blog- please visit our blog at   year5micklem.primaryblogger.co.uk   to comment on our posts and help our learning.

For the Summer Term we are learning about ' Villains, Scoundrels and Rogues' starting with highwaymen. We will be reading The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes and learning about 2 local 'highwaypeople' from Markyate and Hemel. We will also be reading Oliver Twist and learning about his life as a pickpocket in Victorian London. Look in the gallery to see us getting dressed up and acting in role.

This term our topic is the Ancient Mayans, an ancient civilization that lived in Central America. Most of us had never heard of them in January, but by the end of term we hope to have learned lots about them.

In the autumn term our topics were Monarchs, when we learnt all about Kings and Queens of England since 1066 and Our World, where we focused on rainforest climates. To see more of our learning have a look on the Year 5 page in the gallery.
