Admissions Arrangements

Please use this page for important information regarding moving children into or between schools.  We will advertise school open events and key dates for secondary transfers.  

Nursery 2024/2025

 

Maintained schools in Hertfordshire are now responsible for the admission to nursery from 2018 onwards. Schools are working together to ensure the process is the same in each school and that parents receive consistent information that will enable them to make informed decisions about their preferred nursery school.

Please see below for Micklem Primary School's nursery admission policy for 2023-2024 and the nursery application form, which should be completed and returned to the school office. 

 

Please note that although there are 2 key dates for Nursery applications, if you are making an In-year application and we have spaces, we are able to admit any child to our nursery at any point in the year

providing they are already three before the start of a new term. Please see the table below:

 

 

Key Dates for Nursery Applications:

 

September 2024 Intake -

Nursery applications open on Monday 15th January 2024 and close on Friday 22nd March 2024.

Nursery places are offered on Monday 22nd April 2024.

Deadline for accepting nursery places is on Friday 26th April 2024.

 

We are holding open mornings so parents can visit the nursery to see how it is run, the activities that take place and to ask any questions that they may have. These are taking place on the following days:

Wednesday 14th February 2024 09:30

Tuesday 12th March 2024  09:30

Thursday 21st March 2024 09:30

Please call the school office  to confirm a date to visit our Nursery.

 

January 2025 Intake - Please complete our application form and contact the school office to arrange an appointment to view our nursery to see how it is run.

 

Nursery applications open on Monday 13th May 2024 and close on Friday 19th July 2024.

Nursery places are offered on Monday 9th September 2024.

Deadline for accepting nursery places is on Friday 13th September 2024

We are currently offering these dates and times for a school tour:

 

Wednesday 20th September 2023 10am

Wednesday 04th October 2023 2pm

Wednesday 18th October 2023 9am

Wednesday 01st November 2023 10am

Parents of children coming up to school age will receive a booklet from Hertfordshire County Council, which contains information as to how to apply for a primary school place.

Applications for primary and in year admissions can be made on line at www.hertsdirect.org/admissions or by contacting the admissions team on 0300 123 4043.

 

All responsibility for admission to our school lies with Hertfordshire County Council, so our Headteacher will not be able to give you a firm offer of a place.  The up to date admissions criteria set by Hertfordshire County Council can be found on the link below. 

If you are considering applying for a place for your child at Micklem Primary School and would like to visit the school to look round the premises, please contact the school office, and we will arrange an appointment for you.
