Charity Work

Charity Work at Micklem

Our project for the first term this year was to think about how we supported charities in our school and how we could do even more to help those less fortunate than us.  We have always done non-uniform days but did not always know where the money went.

We had a Pupil Voice to get some ideas from our houses.  We found out that people wanted to support local charities as well and bigger ones.  We also talked about different ways that we could support them; including cake sales, parties, sponsored events and more.  Over the term, we planned:

 - A MacMillan Coffee afternoon

 - A day's worth of activities for Children in Need followed by a cake sale

 - A collection and donation for DENS - our local foodbank

 - Jeans for Genes activities

Over the term we raised nearly £1000 for different charities, as well as collections for our foodbank.  Below are some of the newsletters and minutes from meetings to share what we found.
