22nd June 2020
Dear Year One,
How are you all? A warm welcome to you whether you are at school or home learning.
In English this week, we are going to write our own version of Handa's Surprise. If you would like to listen to it again here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyIV_xYi0as
BUT we don't live in Africa do we? So our story will be set in England. How will it be different to Handa? Will the main character carry the fruit on their head? Why not? What could they use instead? Which animals will be stealing the fruit? Elephants?!
Go to the video area (Children, Video Centre, Year 1 Exclusion Work) to find out your challenge. I have loaded the word bank and sound charts for you to help you with this week's writing. Here is link to British Wildlife here too https://www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/british-wildlife.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpYyAs6-G6gIVVeztCh3HbQLJEAAYASAAEgKdmvD_BwE
In Maths, we are carrying on with Multiplication and Division. It is loaded up for you below.
This week is also Healthy Eating Week@home. Here is a link to the British Nutrition Foundation with lots of activities about staying fit and healthy. You can also watch chefs cook food between 10am- 2pm - you might want to get the ingredients and do it too? https://www.nutrition.org.uk/healthyliving/hewathome.html
On Purple Mash, I have put lots of fruit activities for you to enjoy and I managed to find a Handa one too! There is also some phonics work - remember to keep practising your sounds.
Take care,
Mrs Stokley
