Welcome to Micklem Nursery Class!

Class Staff:

Nursery Teacher: Mrs Rawson

Early Years Practitioner: Mrs Cox (Monday-Friday)

Early Years Practitioner: Mrs Lopez (Friday)

At Micklem Nursery we have a lovely classroom and a big, open outdoor area.  We learn both inside and outside whatever the weather. Here you can see some of the activities we have enjoyed during the first few weeks of term whilst the children settle into Nursery life.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

At Micklem we follow the Statutory Guidance for the EYFS.

This sets out seven areas of learning for children from birth to five.

Three areas are particularly important for building a foundation for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, forming relationships and thriving.

These are the prime areas:

• communication and language

• physical development

• personal, social and emotional development

Providers must also support children in four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied.

The specific areas are:

• literacy

• mathematics

• understanding the world

• expressive arts and design

(DfE September 2021)

We plan activities and experiences in order to meet the requirements of the Educational Programmes
