Welcome to Year 5!
Miss Waterhouse and Mrs Harvey
During the week, we need to remember the following things:
Planners in every day- reading should be recorded in their planners
Monday- Planners checked for reading over the weekend and PE kits
Tuesday - Homework due in
Wednesday- Homework given out
Thursday- Swimming kits
The children are expected to read for at least 20 minutes every night, at least once during the weekend (Friday to Sunday) and regularly during holiday periods. The children are expected to have a book in school with them everyday, so that they can read to staff and have independent reading time. Children are given a reading/homework diary and parents are asked to sign it every night to confirm that their child has read- planners will be checked everyday by year 5 staff.
Homework
The children are given English and Maths homework every week. This will be set on a Wednesday and is due back by Tuesday of the following week. Maths will most likely be set on mathletics- any issue with this please talk to Miss Waterhouse or Mrs Harvey. Spellings are given out with the homework and the children are tested on these words on Tuesday- it is the children's responsibility to learn their spellings.
It is essential that the children realise the importance of doing their homework.
