Deaf and Hearing Support Service

The Deaf and Hearing Support Service (DHSS) are a team of qualified specialists and teachers of the deaf, who support children and young people aged 0-25 with hearing problems. They work with families that have a newly diagnosed child or young person, and with schools, to support those who are deaf/ hard of hearing.

They offer advice and support to professionals and parents about:

  • the development of listening, language and communication
  • learning
  • social-emotional development
  • transition between schools
  • the use of hearing technology and specialist equipment

Their Teachers of the Deaf provide staff at schools with practical ways to help their deaf/ hard of hearing pupils to learn and progress. For further information please click on the link below.
