Morning Year One

Today I have uploaded a Maths lesson for you to follow.  You will need your exercise book and a pencil.  You can stop it as you go along to check the explanations and then there will be 4 or 5 questions for you to have a go at completing.

For English, go to Children (top of the page), Video Resourcing Centre, Year 1 Closure Work and I have uploaded a story for you to watch.  It is called Jasper's Beanstalk.  Watch the video first and there is also a Powerpoint version of the story available too to help you.

Can you practise your spelling of the days of the week - remember you need to be able to read and spell these words by the time you go to Year 2.

Secondly, there are lots of verbs (action words) in this story  - can you find them all and then practise the suffix ending -ing?  For example, Jasper found a bean. Found is the past for find.  To add -ing makes it finding.

Eat would become eating, play would become playing.  Look through the book, find the verbs and make them present -ing words.

Once you have finished your work, let me know if you have any problems either by blogging or emailing me on year1@micklem.herts.sch.uk. Then on Tuesday, the lessons will carry on each day for Maths and English with some phonics, Topic and Art too.

See you tomorrow,

Mrs Stokley smiley
